Soccer Camp in Ecuador 2015… Dreams come true

A team of 10 volunteers traveled to Ecuador for the 2015 Soccer Camp. This group made dreams a reality for the 150 children that attended the soccer camp in the south part of Quito in a community known as La Ciudadela del Ejército.

This year’s team consisted of volunteers from Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland who traveled with great enthusiasm to bring joy and hope to children and families in Quito.

The team brought soccer balls, cleats and other sneakers, candies, brand new soccer socks and clothing, all of which was made possible through the generous donations of individuals with big hearts, organizations and different churches.

For the fifth consecutive year, the children, many of whom are part of the outreach project of Fraternidad Cristiana del Ejército church, led by Pastor Erik Pinto, were laughing and soaking up the time with the team as they trained, improving their soccer skills and competing on teams in the tournament, working hard to win the trophies, donated by La Mano of Hope, again, thanks to the many generous partners in the United States.

This year the team was also able to spend a day partnering with another missionary group led by Pastor Philip Barber working in the north part of Quito in the community of Llano Grande. They spent the day working with a local pastor, Luis Michelana and the Compassion school hosted by his church. The team is planning to return in 2016 to expand the soccer camp to this part of North Quito
